LAW FIRM MARKETING
A law firm website has one job a partner can check: turning the right visitors into qualified cases. That means conversion-focused design, SEO fundamentals and answer engine optimization (AEO) built in from the start, not added afterwards.
A clear plan. A dedicated partner. Measurable progress.

A LAUNCH THAT PROTECTS WHAT WORKS
Keep the practice-area URLs, attorney bios and reviews that already earn search visibility, and redirect the rest.
Check bar admissions, disclaimers, attorney schema and case-result caveats read correctly before launch.
Call the tracking number, submit the consultation form and confirm it reaches intake on a phone.
Sample eight-week schedule for a firm’s site. Timing changes with the number of practice and attorney pages and the speed of firm review; the five stages stay in this order.
BEFORE THE SWITCH
The five checks below are the ones that decide whether a launch week is uneventful. Each is a pass or a fail recorded against the week-one inventory, not a judgment anyone has to make on the day, and every one of them is run again the morning the site goes live. A firm loses more visibility to a redirect nobody checked than to anything a designer decides.
What passing it means: Every URL is accounted for: each old address is requested and confirmed to land, in one hop, on the practice or attorney page that replaces it. Anything retired on purpose is recorded with the reason.
What passing it means: Each consultation form submitted and each tracked number dialled, on the live site and on a phone, until somebody at the firm confirms it arrived.
What passing it means: Indexed pages, non-branded impressions and the position of the practice pages that already earn work, written down before the switch rather than reconstructed after it.
What passing it means: The rebuilt practice and attorney pages render inside the budget agreed in week one, measured on a mid-range phone rather than an office connection.
What passing it means: Organization, attorney and article markup parses without error, and states only the admissions, offices and practice areas the page itself states.
Passing all five does not guarantee a ranking; failing any one of them reliably costs one, and the failure that costs the most is an intake path nobody dialed.
A PLAN YOU CAN FOLLOW
Define which matters the website should attract and what makes a consultation worth holding. Use that decision to shape every practice area page around one useful action, with the firm’s results and the matters it handles clear from the start.
Explain the process, likely cost and usual timeline in the order a worried prospect needs them. Keep one obvious consultation route nearby, with a short mobile booking flow and intake questions that help the firm judge whether the matter fits.
Build accessible pages, clear headings and links between related practice areas while preserving valuable existing URLs. Add plainly sourced answers assistants can quote, then route every tracked number and form into intake before the new site launches.
Review consultations held, intake’s assessment of their quality and the retainers that followed. Test the point where suitable prospects stop, so each design change is judged by the cases it helps create rather than by clicks or appearance.
BUILT IN, NOT BOLTED ON
A firm’s website can look finished and still be invisible. Practice pages that a crawler cannot read, headings that are only styling, attorney pages nothing links to, and markup describing credentials the page never states: each one is a reason for a search engine or an assistant to pass the firm over. These are cheap to build in and expensive to retrofit, so they are part of the build rather than a phase after it.
Why it matters once the firm’s site is live: Practice areas as real headings and lists rather than styled text, so a crawler and a screen reader follow the same structure a client does.
Why it matters once the firm’s site is live: The matters you handle written into the page, not set in an image or loaded by a script after it renders. Anything a crawler cannot read cannot be quoted back to a prospective client.
Why it matters once the firm’s site is live: Every attorney reachable from the practice pages they work on, and every practice page reachable from an attorney. A bio nothing links to is invisible however strong the credentials are.
Why it matters once the firm’s site is live: Most people looking for a lawyer are doing it on a phone, often in a bad moment. A page that stalls loses them to the firm whose page did not.
Why it matters once the firm’s site is live: Organization, attorney and article markup that states only what the page states: admissions, offices and practice areas. No markup for credentials the page does not claim.
This foundation gives search engines and assistants accurate, attributable information about the firm. Rankings and mentions still depend on the market and the sources each platform selects.
A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING
By making case fit obvious before the form. Practice scope, jurisdiction and what happens after contact are stated up front, so poor matches self-select out and intake stops sorting noise.
Yes. Crawlable practice pages, a meaningful heading structure, internal links, accurate schema and fast mobile rendering are part of the build rather than a later phase quoted separately.
Usually yes, and we prefer it. Where an address genuinely has to change, it is mapped one to one, redirected, and indexing and consultation booking are re-checked after launch.
Through real bios with bar admissions and the matters each attorney handles, alongside genuine client proof, placed where someone is deciding rather than buried on an About page.
