EVIDENCE FROM A REAL CAMPAIGN
This is a local grid scan of one market, before and after: where the firm appeared in Google Maps at each of 225 search locations for the term it was competing on.
Immigration law · New Jersey
SEARCH TERM“Immigration lawyer New Jersey”
Each dot is a search location. The number is the firm’s position in Google Maps at that spot: 1 means first. Lower numbers mean greater visibility.
Before 225 search locations · positions 5 to 20, 2 unranked
After 225 search locations · position 1 at every one

Cruz Gold & Associates, “Immigration lawyer New Jersey”, New Jersey. Both scans cover the same 15 × 15 grid of 225 search locations, and the number inside each circle is the firm’s position in Google Maps at that point, where 1 is first. The firm reports the campaign against September 2025 to January 2026 compared with the same five months a year earlier. Local Falcon does not print the scan radius or the capture dates on these exports, so read the pair as before and after the campaign rather than as two named days.
A PLAN YOU CAN FOLLOW
Scan visibility across each county the firm serves for the matters it wants. This shows where reach stops away from the office and helps prioritize the practice area and market combinations most likely to produce suitable local inquiries.
Set the Google profile categories and services to the matters the firm takes, confirm the visitable office and hours when someone answers, and make consultation the clear action. Keep those details aligned with the website so prospective clients see one account.
Create a county page naming its courthouse, attorneys and locally handled matters. Keep the firm’s details consistent across bar directories and legal listings, then request reviews after closed matters through a process that avoids confidential case details.
Read map visibility beside calls, consultation requests and intake outcomes. Match those contacts to retainers where the firm’s records allow, so the monthly report shows whether local discovery produced qualified matters and not only movement across the map.
HOW A LOCAL SEARCH PICKS A FIRM
Somebody searching for a lawyer nearby is choosing between three listings on a map before they ever reach a website. What decides it is not slogans: it is whether the listing names the matter they have, whether there is a page behind it that speaks to that matter, and whether the evidence around the listing suggests other people in the same position were looked after. Three pieces, in that order.
Practice areas, hours, the languages your team speaks and whether you offer a free consultation. These are the details someone reads before deciding which of three firms to call.
A page for the office, naming the address, the attorneys who work there and the matters handled there. A profile that sends everyone to a homepage wastes the call it earned.
Recent reviews that describe the matter, listings that agree on your address, and photographs of the actual office. This is the slowest part to build and the hardest to copy.
WHAT IS ELIGIBLE, AND WHAT IS NOT
Most local problems at a multi-office firm are eligibility problems rather than ranking problems: a profile at an address nobody staffs, two profiles competing at one address, or a second office with no page of its own. Google’s guidelines decide what may exist, and they change. The decisions below are the ones we take before creating anything, and we would rather turn down a listing than have it removed later.
What the guidelines allow: Its own Business Profile at that address. What we do: One profile, one location page, its own reviews, and the attorneys who actually work there.
What the guidelines allow: Its own profile at that address. What we do: A separate profile and a page written for that market, not the first page with the city changed.
What the guidelines allow: No profile. It is not an eligible location. What we do: Serve that market from the nearest real office and state the actual service area on the page.
What the guidelines allow: A practitioner profile alongside the firm’s. What we do: Only where the practice is genuinely separate. Two profiles at one address competing for the same searches help nobody.
These four situations cover the most common profile decisions. Document borderline eligibility before creating anything, because a profile Google removes takes its reviews and history with it.
A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING
Local visibility turns on searcher distance, an eligible office and profile accuracy; broader SEO turns on content and authority. A map pack can be won in a market the site alone would not reach.
Sometimes. A practitioner profile suits an attorney publicly reachable at the office; it is not a way to add listings. We check eligibility against current Google guidance before creating anything.
Yes, provided each office is a real staffed location. Each gets its own profile and a page reflecting the matters handled there, and each market is tracked and reported on its own.
In organic results, yes, with content that genuinely serves that market. In the map pack it is far harder without an eligible location, and inventing an address leads to a suspended profile.
